A new TV anime based on the children's fantasy book Ronia the Robber's Daughter is in works, titled Sanzoku no Musume Ronja. The anime, a 3D CG work, will be directed by Goro Miyazaki and is to air this Fall. The anime will be produced by NHK Enterprise and will be composed by Hiroyuki Kawasaki. The animation will be done by POLYGON PICTURES with Studio Ghibli as the co-producers.

The story, originally written by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren (best know for her books featuring the character Pippi Longstocking), is about a girl named Ronja who is the daughter of a chief of a tribe of bandits and lives in a huge castle in the forest with the bandits. The story follows Ronja as she encounters mystical creatures, makes friends with another young child like herself, and experiences life in the forest.
